19th Century Chinese Ridge Tile Pair Upholstered Stools A beautifully carved 19th CenturyA rare glazed antique terracotta Chinese ridge tile with a sage riding a rooster and a grotesque image to the front. In Chinese mythology the rooster signifies honesty, fortune and luck. Only temples and important buildings were allowed to be decorated with tiles of this type, this is a particularly fine example with high quality moulding and a rich ochre coloured glaze. This antique Chinese tile is in excellent condition. A really superb illustration
